Like so many parents, I struggled with managing my son’s sensitive skin and eczema. I switched laundry detergents, changed his diet and bought only natural skincare. But his eczema kept coming back. We were disheartened.

So I tapped into my background as a chemical engineer and started to look for the root cause for his sensitive skin, which turned out to be a damaged and underdeveloped microbiome.

I learned that to truly transform my son’s sensitive skin to healthy and resilient skin, he needed to use microbiome-friendly skincare. Skincare that helped protect and nourish the good microbes on his skin, so they could defend against the bad microbes that cause sensitive skin issues.

The sad reality is that the number of children suffering from sensitive skin issues is increasing. Continuously managing red, itchy, inflamed skin should not be our children’s new normal. We need to do more.

What is microbiome-friendly skincare?

Our microbiome-friendly skincare includes gentle, preservative-free, oil-based cleansers, pH balancing lotions and barrier protecting balms. Using products with harsh preservatives, excess fragrance and essential oils and other irritants can harm the good microbes on a child’s skin. Microbiome-friendly products protect and nourish the good microbiomes so they can help regulated the skin and defend again the bad microbes.

Can new babies use microbiome-friendly skincare?

When my daughter was born I wanted to help her avoid skincare issues. She used microbiome-friendly skincare from the start to help prevent issues like eczema.
